David chaired his last meeting of the Shawlands Economic Development sub group before the council election. A number of local issues were discussed.
Shawlands Shopping Centre
Unfortunately no plans were available to be presented to the sub group. However, a representative of the Shopping Centre advised the sub group that plans have been submitted to the Council. Once the owners have finalised plans they will share them with the community.
Civic Square & Public Toilet
The design of the civic square is currently being refined and will then go out to procurement. Looking for work to be completed by late 2017/early 2018.
Work is starting on the public toilet and should last four weeks. Two toilets will be installed (disabled and unisex). The surplus space will be part of a planning application and this should happen in the next couple of months.
Attractions & Events
Southside Fringe is taking place in May this year and it is hoped it will be successful. Visit www.southsidefringe.com for full details.

David has chaired sixteen meetings of the sub group and thanks the community council reps for their input. David says: "I believe we have achieved a lot together over the last five years and I hope the positive work continues in Shawlands town centre."
